The first week of the Tour De Fleece happened to coincide with both my first week as a stay-at-home mom AND my husband needing to fly across the country for a 3 days. Needless to say, my mindset quickly went from “SPIN ALL THE THINGS!” to “I am SuperMom! I can entertain my kids, do laundry, wash dishes, mop the floors, and SPIN ALL THE THINGS at the same time!” to “how about we all just take a nap?” pretty quickly.

However, once everyone was in bed, and the house was clean(ish), I tried to fit in a little bit of spinning time. I grabbed the first batt I ever made on my carder, some hankies I dyed years ago, and planned a simple spiral yarn that took me over a week to finish.

I’m happy with the results. I had forgotten how much I really do love spinning silk hankies. There’s something so satisfying about pulling them apart and drafting – it soothed my weary diaper-changing, laundry-folding, grocery-shopping soul.
